Some people do - and others don't, even if they have short hair. Does it matter what kind of hearing aid I would be wearing?

It's all a personal choice. Some people are embarrassed by hearing aids, most people are more concerned about hearing. After all not hearing can be pretty embarrassing, probably more so than wearing a hearing aid system.

If your hair is long enough to cover the ears then modern hearing aids should pretty much be invisible. If your hair is short, there are open mold 'on the ear' aids that are very discrete (see link). There is also the CIC option (see second link) that hides very well behind the tragus.

The choice of hearing aid should be a compromise between what is ideal for your specific loss, and the aesthetics you are prepared to live with. Discuss with your hearing professional what you need for your loss, and be honest about how you feel about wearing a hearing aid. There is no sense in getting one that you would be too embarrassed to wear.

There are really ignorant people in the world. Simple as that.

I have long hair and I wear hearing aids. I wear my hair in a ponytail all the time or tucked behind my ears. However the mood strikes me. It's kinda like wearing glasses as long as you can see it's better right. As long as you can hear and your hair does not create feedback no big deal.
