I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with

A wig maker told me I couldn't donate it because I wasn't asian. I am dead serious. She said only asians have fine hair whereas caucasians like myself have course hair. Is this true?

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

You were misinformed. Asian hair wigs are the cheapest. European hair (cauacasian) is the most expensive and most desired. It does need to be virgin hair however.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

LOL!! that is the dumbist thing i have ever heard! That is not true. Locks of love will take anything as long as it's at least 8in. long and not permed or crazy colors. that lady is just stupid

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

I don't know personally... but haven't you ever watched tv shows like Maury? Ricky Lake? Oprah? Ellen Degeneres?

They've all had episodes where people have donated hair and ... WAIT! HERE'S THE GOOD PART!!.... SOME WERE WHITE!

Do you know the wig maker? Are you guys on bad ties?

Maybe you DO have really coarse hair tho...

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

not true. go somewhere else. that is so dumb. thats great that you're donating it! its so awesome, especially at christmas time

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

no that's not true. I had a friend who donated her long blond hair after finding out her sister had cancer. call St. Judes children's hospital and they will direct you where to send your hair.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

It's actually the diametric opposite of what you stated. My sister-in-law is Korean and her hair feels like a horse's mane. Asian hair is notoriously coarse and damn near impossible to work with. Lol, maybe they didn't want your hair for another reason and were too embarrassed to tell you why. Do you smoke? That might be why, because people that smoke have stinky hair.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

no. go to a different place and they will take your hair. a lot of my white friends did that with no problem.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

actually asians have coarse hair strands. locks of love require you to not have any chemical processes on your hair and that the hair be at least 10 inches long. this chic was totally uninformed or witchy

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

Hmmm...not necessarily...

Hair's qualities are completely and totally genetic, though Asians are often generalized with "fine hair". However, generalizations are not always correct for everyone within said generalization -- people are different, with different genes. However, your hair may be coarse due to your personal genes, not what ethnic group you belong in.

Thanks for your effort to help a good cause :)

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

That sounds ridiculous to me. She's full of ****. Here's what it says on the "locks of love" website. Hair from all ethnic groups is welcomed. It is a great cause, and I wish more people would remember it when they get their hair cut.

We accept 10" minimum hair length (tip to tip). We cannot accept wigs, falls, or synthetic hair.

Please bundle hair in ponytail or braid.

Hair needs to be clean, dry, placed in a plastic bag, then padded envelope.

We need hair from men and women, young and old, all colors and races.

Hair may be colored or permed, but not bleached or chemically damaged (if unsure, ask your stylist).

Hair swept off the floor is not usable.

Hair cut years ago is usable if it has been stored in a ponytail or braid.

Hair that is short, gray, or unsuitable for children will be separated from the ponytails and sold at fair market value to offset the cost of manufacturing.

You may pull curly hair straight to measure the minimum 10".

The majority of all hair donated comes from children who wish to help other children.

Layered hair may be divided into multiple ponytails for donation.

Please note: Anyone can cut your hair as long as the above guidelines are followed

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

No its not. It's really what type of genetic make up u have.I have a friend thats caucasian who donated her hair. They accepted it.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

wow, that is not true.. The only restrictions that i have heard of are that if it is overprocessed with dyes and relaxers it may not be able to be used but if it is clean hair in good shape it is always able to be utilized. A good organization for this is Locks of Love.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

That's not true. You don't donate to a wig maker anyway. Donate to Locks for love.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

No it's not true. Most salons have the address to send your hair for cancer victims. I know it has to be at least 10 in. long. and no color or perm. Virgin hair. Clean and dry. Alot of ladies and girls have come into my salon and donated their hair. I think it's very appreciated donation. You have a wonderful heart. God Bless. I know you can get more info by searching Locks Of Love.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

wow thats crazy! i have never heard of that because i know several people who have done locks for love and none of them are asian.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you donated to Locks of Love, your hair probably didn't go to a child at all, much less one with cancer. Locks of Love takes MANY more donations than it needs to make the wigs that it gives to children with permanent medical hairloss (They consider hair loss from chemotheraphy to be temporary, so don't give wigs to children undergoing cancer treatment). Most of the hair is sold.

You'd do better to sell your hair to a wig maker and donate the money you make to cancer research.

It's true that most wigs are made from Asian or Indian hair, but there's no rule that caucasian hair can't be used to make a wig.

I used to have really long hair, and offered it to that thing where you donate it to kid's with cancer...but

Someone isin't being honest or they are just idiotic?

Asians have anything BUT fine hair!

Asian hair generally is very thick in shaft size. They don't have as much hair as other races but each indivisual hair is thicker due to a naturally darker pigment and therefore strength.

Natural, virgin hair 7 to 10 inces or longer is what is acceptable for locks of love. As long as it is not over processed or damaged in any way.

You can use any hair to create a wig. Whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about.

Indian hair and Asian hair is always preferred by wig makers because it is stronger, straighter and therefor easier to weave but any hair will work.
