How do you make long hair wavy?

My hair has only a few waves so i usually straighten it but I want to make it more wavy instead of killing my hair.

The sensible way, without using damaging heat irons is simply to wash your hair and when its still damp, braid it tightly into one or two braids. Leave them in overnight and brush it out in the morning. It will be lovely and wavy and no heat will be needed!!!

Heated irons destroy your hair. Steer clear of them!

If you want pretty waves (Like when Jessica Simpson does the wavy look)- you need to use a Big barrel curling iron. I do this and get complimented nearly every day (not trying brag here). My hair is also straightish with slight waves. To keep the heat exposure to a minimum, I let most of it dry naturally if I have the time. I just blow out the bangs. Then, I separate the rest of my hair into somewhat thick sections, spray with a setting spray (or styling hairspray), and wrap the hair around the iron so the hair is laying vertically. I don't leave the hair on the iron for very long- just a couple of seconds, so it doesn't fry. Then I take out the hair, roll it up in the direction of the curl (it will form a circle), and pin it to the top of my head. I do this because intil the hair is cool, it is pliable and if you let it hang, you'll lose some curl. Once all the sections are pinned, I let them cool while I do my makeup, get dressed, whatever. The last thing I do before I leave the house is unpin it, style with my fingers, and I'm good to go. It's easy to do (easier than the straight look, IMO), and it doesn't damage your hair. I do it almost everyday and my hair is in great shape. I swear if you do this, you'll get movie star hair every time. Good luck!
